2011 Dove Hunting Wrap Up:
What a Dove hunting year! WWR hosted more Dove hunting guests this year than ever before and like most other outfitters in our region experienced the least amount of Dove populations in the 12 years of being in business simply due to the record setting drought Texas experienced limiting the amount of food sources and reducing the number of nesting’s. In general our staff scouted hard to locate birds on our many Dove lands so most hunts were good but there were some days when there just weren’t huntable congregations of birds in our region. Our plans for the upcoming season include irrigating more food plots specifically for Dove so we look forward to taking you hunting next year and overcoming mother nature’s challenges.
2011 Whitetail Season Kick off:
Our Whitetail look great as we spent a ton of money supplemental feeding protein pellets & alfalfa hay to our Whitetails along with pumping ground water throughout the extended drought Texas is experiencing. We will have a few openings through the season to book more Whitetail hunts so please give us a call. Our first Whitetail hunting group was a DFW area couple that harvested a beautiful 181” typical trophy Whitetail and a 136” management Whitetail. See our big game photo gallery for updated postings…
January & February Quail Hunting Outlook:
We have tried our best keep our adult Quail populations alive this year with habitat management, supplemental feeding, & predator management but due to the drought Texas is experiencing we just don’t see many hatchings as Quail need good ground cover, moisture, bug hatchings, & seeds to reproduce. We will have some wild Quail to hunt and we will be releasing flight conditioned Quail to ensure our wing shooting guests have plenty of shooting so please call to book and expect some fine dining & lodging, and plenty of shooting over some fantastic hunting dogs.
